These breakfast foods are supposedly healthy and good for you. The truth -- they are actually worse for you than the obvious unhealthy option. Make these easy swaps to save loads of calories and fat: Bran muffins: Many people assume they're making a smart choice when they choose the bran muffin over the donut in dining halls or at the cart on the street. You think: bran = fiber = healthy Truth: Just a dense, not to mention smaller, piece of cake. The average muffin packs a whopping 500 calories (even for small varieties). Add bran and the fat content leaps to 20-30+ grams. Fat equivalent: 2 Klondike Heath ice cream bars SWAP: glazed donut - nothing can curb the carb fix in the AM.
